Lory Laughter Named Director of Dental Hygiene Program

University of the Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry has named Ms. Lory Laughter, RDH, MS, as the new director of the school's Dental Hygiene program. She will assume the position on May 1 after current director Ms. Deborah Horlak retires.

Lory joined the Dugoni School in 2017 as the junior clinic coordinator for the Dental Hygiene program, and has taught at other dental programs in the Bay Area. She was the recipient of the 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award from Pacific's Dental Hygiene program.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from Idaho State University and her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from University of California, San Francisco. Lory has been in clinical practice for over 20 years and has served as a consultant/clinical educator for industry, working with companies such as GC America, Philips, Interleukin Genetics, OraPharma, Nuvora and American Eagle. She is also past president of the California Dental Hygiene Association, and has been involved in a wide range of professional publications and continuing education programs. She speaks nationally on a variety of topics and has a passion for learning which has fostered a desire for sharing current research with all healthcare professionals.

The Dugoni School offers an accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene for qualified students. In addition to clinical practice, the baccalaureate hygiene degree allows entry into numerous positions in teaching, research, administration, public health, private industry and other areas of hygiene practice.
